i’m back!

4 Jan

So i have thought about what to post for my first post back since Christmas Eve…

do i post about …..

my favourite Christmas gift….
what we did for Christmas…
how our Christmas Eve services went….
new year’s resolutions….

and i decided that instead of telling you all these things i wanted to give you an open mic….

so, what was your favourite Christmas gift? what did you do for Christmas? how did your services go? what are your resolutions?

also….what do you think about the new look at lynseleanne.com? poke around a bit and make suggestions…

determination

11 Dec

Have you ever had a moment that you will remember forever? An impromptu meeting with someone that brought such light to where you are?

Yesterday was just that. I went in to talk to Mr. Bob. He is the Executive Administrator at Church of the Highlands. I went in to tell him the impact that his battle with cancer and radiation had on my faith. If you dont know him, you are missing someone who is determined and has such a will for life and heart for God.

In 2008 he has had 3 bouts with cancer and 37 radiation treatments. but his faith did not waiver, his faith remained in God.

As i talked with him yesterday he said that he could have been miserable at home and in pain at home or he could raise above that and continue to work and serve God. And he did just that. He was faithful to his work and to God.

to see his family’s faith in God through this that God is in control has done an amazing work in my life. It has shown me that hope and faith can get you through anything.

He told me yesterday that “Determination is necessary for success.” In anything. Health, your marriage, your career….anything that you want.

So i have 2 questions for you…
Are you determined?
Who is the person who has raised your faith the most in 2008? Give them a shout out!

denim is the devil…part 2

Jeans in the workplace or in a church staff….the title is a sarcastic comment, not meant to offend…just a catchy title. i wear jeans all the time. if i could wear them anywhere and everywhere i would….

I posted about this back in February….and i was thinking about it more these days. not at all in an effort to get jeans allowed at our services, i am just curious as to what you think.

I get the concept of dressing to who you want to attract, but why do we get caught up on jeans?

So i am wanting your opinions…..

Do you think we get caught up on jeans?

What do you think jeans communicate? good or bad…professional or slacker….if anything.

If you work at a church do you get to wear jeans to weekend/midweek services?

Are jeans that big of a deal or do we get caught up on the fabric or idea of what jeans say?

a busy season

I AM ON VACATION!!!!!

my $100

if you are following me on twitter you would know that today to celebrate the fact that Church of the Highlands is the fastest growing church in America our pastor and boss Chris Hodges took us on a surprise trip to the mall and handed us each a 100 dollar bill. here is mine right out of his hand.

Our rules were simple….
1. we had to spend it,
2. it had to be spent on us,
3. we had 2 hours to spend it
4. have fun!

so it took me an hour and a half to finally settle….i got a pair of jeans from the Buckle. here is a pic of them. money well spent as Chad and i were discussing when i could get a new pair.

So Chris Hodges and Church of the Highlands….

THANKS!!!!
