2010…
well…i hate new years resolutions.
but in thinking about 2009 and the different things i want in 2010 i really really really want to cook and bake more. I do enjoy it but dont know how to do anything but bake chicken and make salads.
So i have no recipes…and i know some of you people do….so share some with me…maybe we could have a swap of sorts. but help me know and learn…just give me recipes.
it could be fun…and then i will post about it. yep…it will be a fun time.

These two recipes go together. Homemade chicken gyros with homemade wraps. Scrumptious! I recommend looking through a lot of Leigh Ann's recipes. She uses great pictures, which make it easy to have a target at what the end product should be like. I do best with visuals. I often substitute margarine for butter, IMO for sour cream/yogurt, and water for milk in her recipes, since a number of persons in our family can't have dairy.

Another favorite place to find recipes is the Pioneer Woman. Fabulous site, full of pictures and recipes:

Well you COULD make some of the recipes on my blog… :-) Otherwise go check out one of my favourite food blogs: http://www.thegoodmoodfoodblog.com – Donal Skehan is 23 (I think!) from Dublin, has just had his first cookbook published, and is also a bonafide pop star (his band, Industry, have had 2 number ones in Ireland) – he tweets back too (and is as cute as a button, but I'm so old that is probably a bit wrong to say that!).
More importantly, his food is fresh, yummy, not difficult to make and I like his food ethos. I'm such a groupie, it's quite embarrassing. Sorry.
i'm SO not the right person to answer this…
Yes, cooking from recipes is basically how I've learned the little that I know now. And watching Rachael Ray – she's a good teacher. But my favorite recipe website is http://www.allrecipes.com — one of my favorite features is the tab called "Ingredients" because you can put in something that you already have (such as 'bell pepper') and narrow the search to dinners, soups, or side dish, and it'll give you tons of options. It can also convert the recipe into however many servings you need, or into metric (if you're into that kinda thing). Also, for each recipe, there is a place for comments at the bottom. Read those!! The people who have already made the recipe sometimes all say the same thing, like "it was too bland, so add spices" or "it was too dry, so up the chicken stock by 1/2 a cup". Very helpful.
It may not be for everyone, but I love it.
