The Flickering Light

my stab at poetry…i havent written anything since High School. Kinda weird and embarrassing.

the consistent flicker of the street light lulls me into a trance where the lines become blurred between fact and fiction.
it is here that I find my true self.
it is here that my thoughts become clear and my body lines up.

the flicker reminds me that in this world we are all striving for something.
perfection maybe. amidst the darkness one stands tall. waivering but lighting the path.
though it wavers passers by can find their way.

reminded of the fast flicker of life as I stare into the wall.
a blank wall to paint my life. to paint it well.
each window in the wall a different path.
which one to take? which one brings truth?

the consistent flicker of the street light lulls me into a trance. where lines become blurred between fiction and fact.
and the real me is found. amidst the fiction and fact.

    I really like abstract poetry.

This would work really well in a recital…at the Playhouse in the Sydney Opera House…

    Just sayin'

it was written one late night sitting outside in my favourite spot at our apartments. the light always flickers…it is where i go to write and think.

i am so glad you went through with posting this. i don't know about others, but i've lived this poem. in more ways than one. and i continue to as i journey this new road that hasn't been paved before me.

thanks. it was like stepping out over a cliff…to write normally is different then opening up something this personal and deep. so, thanks for the friendship and encouragement.
