Hi! I've just come over from Tam's blog...

My answer: Neither lololol

I meet with other parts of the body in our homes and endeavour (Sorry, Caribbean ppl use English spelling ! lol) to share life together. Other house churches around us have more contemporary styles, but the one I call home (figuratively and literally at times too) doesn't sing together and worship as much as you would do in a 'traditional' setting...'Traditional' in my book lumps both 'hymnal' and 'contemporary' together - coz we're 'out there' to the majority of the believers... *Grin*

I think it gets easy to overlook the Holiness of God if you totally exclude reverence and tradition. If you study church history, you find a lot of "traditions" are rooted in being awestruck of God and His salvation....in my case I can worship either way, because of what I DO know and understand. I know how in just 1 generation how much can be lost.

I did NOT see that coming... WOW.
Me? I love having a modern service, though I do enjoy the occasional redone hymnal!

I think it's all good, as long as it's genuine and not routine/rote. That problem is not unique to traditional or modern or anything really. The other issue is when tradition or "new" starts to have the same authority as scripture.

I love all types... the variety is part of the fun of this whole thing.

I grew up in a very fundamentalist church environment. After years of feeling uncomfortable w/ the contemporary style, I actually can say I absolutely love both! My heart for music encourages me to worship freely in both. I love the messages of the old hymns & the praise offered in the new worship music. Plus,I grew up in a non-instrumental church! Learning to get past the instruments & really worship was a task. But, now I feel so free; so in love w/ God, that I can worship anywhere! Sometimes, I do think our children need to understand 'holy reverance'. One thing I truly miss is an old-fashioned 'Dinner on the Grounds'! Yum!
