Who’s your Daddy?

I was talking with someone the other day and talking about how we become our parents.

To be totally 100% honest i have this underlying fear in my life and marriage that i will end up like my dad….after 26 years of marriage i will decide for one reason or another that i am out. i dont want to do it anymore.

But i know what the word says and i am totally committed to God and to my wonderful husband Chad.

She brought this thought to my attention….it is all in perspective.

She asked,

well, who is your daddy?

She then encouraged me to change my perspective to realize that God is my dad and He is making me just like Him. Holy, blameless, committed…someone after His own heart.

So, i would like to encourage you today to think about it….change your perspective.

Who is your daddy?

funny what things concern us. life has a way of going on and sometimes you need to look back to see ahead.
Knowing you don’t like verses thrown at you, all I can say is dying to self is sometimes harder than words can express.
And believe it or not, we all grow up to be our parents, just be sure you only use the good stuff!
Truth be said “sanctification” isn’t always easy.

Doug’s last blog post..Who is Guido de Bres?

I have to check my perspective more times than I would like.

I was always a “daddy’s girl” when I was a little girl – really through High School. My dad was a great dad to me as a child. As I’ve become and adult, however, we’ve had an ongoing struggle with our relationship. He does not seem to enjoy me as an adult – and keeps an obvious emotional distance, which has proven very painful. It has been through that, that God has shown me himself as my daddy. I’m almost 40 years old, and I still need to know that I have a daddy that loves me as much as he did when I was little. I am certain that God is my daddy now – and thankful beyond words that He still delights in me as much as he does.

Interesting post– I was estranged from my biological father for 20 years. It was only after becoming a Christian (which I did later in life) that I realized the perfect “Daddy” which I longed for is God, the Father. While I have my earthly biological father, he can never be what I need him to be (the bar is just too high). This revelation allowed me to forgive my biological father and accept him for what he is. And I pray that I will be like my true and perfect Daddy– God the Father!
