my communication preference

Ok, so yesterday when i posted this i said that i would give my preferred method today.

But first, let me give you some context of mine and Gina’s discussion.

I told her something that in her opinion should have been told face to face. But our schedules were not able to connect and for the foreseeable future were not going to connect for more than a passing “hi, how are you?”

and for me if i cant talk to someone face to face i dont do it over the phone. I dont like the phone. that is why my text messages used monthly are around 6000 a month and my minutes used are about 90.

I DONT TALK ON THE PHONE! (even for serious things)

Her side was that in the levels of intimacy it goes:
1. face to face
2. on the phone
3. electronically (over text/email)

My list is as follows:
1. face to face
2. electronically
3. on the phone (and it is more like 10)

What is your list in order?

    I would have to say…

    Electronically
    Face to Face
    Phone

I am such an introvert. While I do love face to face time, if I have too much of it in a day–I get totally drained. And I really don’t enjoy talking on the phone–but that also depends on the person I am talking to and the topic.

For me it completely comes down to the context of the conversation and the individual I’m sharing it with. I would say more times than not, I’m going to prefer face to face contact just for the simple reason of it being more personal.

If it’s any form what so ever though, of casual conversation, I always prefer electronically.

For “intimate” conversations, with out opportunity for face to face, I believe I would still prefer an audible conversation. My words over a text are all too easily misconstrued at times.

    My list
    1. Face to face
    2. Phone / Electronically
    3. ——- (I cheated)

Sorry, LS, but I gotta side with GC…..

In serious or laughable contexts, if it is in fact a CONVERSATION that must be had (and if any intimacy is desired), it should go as follows:

    Face to Face
    Convo on Phone
    E-mail
    Snail Mail
    Text Message

Since I am significantly hearing impaired. I would say:
    Face to face
    Email
    Facebook/twitter/blog comment
Phone…only as a last resort, especially if call to me is from a cell or speaker phone.

Wishing I could afford cell, just for texting (since I can’t hear on one). That would open up all sorts of doors for communication. People, don’t take that for granted!
