the symphony of life
The other night i went to a show at the Bottle Tree and it was great!! i have been thinking alot about what life would be like without music. How often do we get into our cars, turn up the radio and drive? What about when you get home? i know the first thing that goes on is my cd player. Music and sound has become something that we just cant live without.
But then i got to thinking about hearing about this composer who at his shows (if that is the right term for classical music, because i am just not a classical connoisseur though i wish i were) he would explain to the crowd that there is music in everyday life and that it is ignored because of the music that is created. So for 5 minutes in his show he would sit in silence and just let life happen. Whatever happened in those 5 minutes would be the piece. that would be the song. How cool is that? I ignore the symphony of life all too often because i am filling my ears with the music that is created, which sometimes is bad. Why dont i just sit and listen to life. Would it not make life so much more enjoyable? I think it would cause me to appreciate it a little more. Just stop, listen to the sounds around you. The cell phones ringing, the thunder, the bugs, the wind through the trees…it all makes a melody, and if you listen close enough you can hear the beat and the rhythm of life and of our creator. All too often we look at the beauty, but i am going to challenge myself to listen for it too.
